Chikmagalur

Chikmagalur aka Chikkamagaluru is a town located in the foothills of the Mullayanagiri range, the town with its favorable climate and coffee estates attracts tourists from around the state.

Baba Budangiri

It is a mountain in the Baba Budan range of the Western Ghats of India. It is known for its shrine to the Sufi saint Hazrat Dada Hayat Khalandar, a pilgrimage site for both Hindus and Muslims.

The main peaks in this range are the Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri and collectively, these peaks are known as Chandradrona Mountain Range as they naturally form the shape of a crescent moon.

Mullayanagiri is the highest peak in the Baba Budangiri range. It is the highest peak between the Himalayas and the Nilgiris. There is a famous trekking trail between Mullayanagiri and Baba Budangiri. The Sunset presents a spectacular view from the peak. The summit of Mullayanagiri also houses a police radio relay station.

Manikyadhara Falls which is a sacred place for Muslims and Hindus is one of the main attractions of Baba Budan Giri

Bhadra Wildlife Sanctuary

It is a protected area and a Project Tiger, tiger reserve located in the northwest of Chikkamagaluru town. It is a biodiversity hotspot and has a wide range of flora and fauna and is popular place for day outings. MSL Hebbe Giri is the highest peak in the sanctuary. Most of the area consists of dry deciduous forest, moist deciduous forest and semi evergreen forests

Hebbe Falls

This waterfalls is inside a coffee estate and can be reached either by walk or four-wheeler. Hebbe Falls gushes down from a height of 551 feet in two stages to form Dodda Hebbe (Big Falls) and Chikka Hebbe (Small Falls.)

The option of trekking is available but the place is filled with leeches especially in the rainy season. The best option is to take a government approved forest jeep which goes through private estates.

Kuduremukh

It is a mountain range and name of a peak located in Chikkamagaluru and it is also the name of a small hill station cum mining town situated near the mountain. The name Kuduremukha literally means ‘horse-face’ and refers to a particular picturesque view of a side of the mountain that resembles a horse’s face. It was also referred to as ‘Samseparvata’, historically since it was approached from Samse village. It is Karnataka’s 3rd highest peak after Mullayangiri and Baba Budangiri.

Kudremukh National Park is spread partly over the thick hilly forests near the coastal plains on the western portion and the shola vegetation on the Western Ghats uplands. The Kudremukh peak, by which the national park derives its name, is the highest spot at 1892 meters. Trekking to the Kudremukh peak is permitted from 6:00 am to 5:00 pm (as per forest rules). The Lakya Dam and Hanuman Gundi Waterfalls are attractions here.

Kodandaramaswami Temple

It is a Hindu shrine located near Chikkamagaluru. The temple deity is called Kodandarama, as Rama, and his brother Lakshmana are depicted holding arrows. It is state protected and appears to have been constructed in three stages, with its Garbhagrha and Sukhanasi structures in the Hoysala style and the remaining portions are additions in Dravidian style.

The present Navaranga is of the 14th centuryand the Mukhamandapa may be of the 16th century. The outer walls of the Garbhagruha and vestibule are raised on a square basement which consists of six cornices. The outer walls of the Navaranga and Mukhamandapa are built with brick and mortar. The projection of the vestibule appears to be of the 17th century.
